Beyond Green Walls: Why I Became a MOOSMOOS Ambassador

Beatrix Nagy × MOOSMOOS

I am very pleased to share that I have officially become a MOOSMOOS Ambassador.
For me, this partnership is about much more than representing a beautiful design product. It sits at the intersection of several themes that increasingly define my work: architecture, wellbeing, longevity, innovation and the way our built environment affects how we live and feel.
The more I work with premium residential, hospitality and wellness-focused real estate, the more convinced I become that the next generation of exceptional spaces will not be defined by aesthetics alone.
A beautiful space matters. But a truly good space should also perform for the people using it.
And this is exactly where I see the relevance of MOOSMOOS.
A family business that learned to reinvent itself

What particularly attracted me to the company is the story behind the product.
MOOSMOOS did not begin as a lifestyle brand created around the biophilic-design trend. Its roots lie in a traditional German family business whose history dates back to 1989.
Over the following decades, the company evolved through craftsmanship, production, international sourcing and eventually its own moss processing and preservation technology. After years of developing its expertise in natural materials, the MOOSMOOS brand was launched in 2017. Today, the company employs around 70 people and has completed more than 25,000 projects.[1]
For me, that evolution is a fascinating entrepreneurial story in itself.
It is an example of what can happen when a traditional family business does not simply protect what it has always done, but continues to question, experiment and identify where its expertise can solve a new problem.
That combination of craftsmanship and innovation is increasingly rare — and extremely valuable.
From raw material to architectural element
The second reason I find MOOSMOOS interesting is the product itself.
The moss is real, carefully preserved and processed in the company’s own production system. MOOSMOOS states that its moss is harvested in European forests in a controlled way that allows the areas to regenerate, before being cleaned, preserved and processed by hand in its manufactory in Oppach, Germany. Its proprietary Druckpräparation+ process uses natural substances and lightfast cosmetic colours while preserving the material’s characteristic texture and functional properties.[2]
The result is a natural material that requires no irrigation, no artificial lighting and virtually no ongoing maintenance.[3]
But what interests me most is what happens when we stop seeing moss purely as decoration.

Why this belongs in the conversation about wellness real estate
Wellness real estate is sometimes reduced to visible features: a gym, a sauna, a cold plunge or a spa.
I see it much more broadly.
It is about creating built environments that support people through acoustics, air quality, light, materials, thermal comfort, connection to nature and sensory experience.
Within that framework, biophilic design becomes far more than a visual trend.
A well-designed moss installation brings genuine natural material into an interior while adding texture, depth and a strong visual connection to nature. Depending on the solution and surface area, preserved moss can interact with indoor humidity and provide meaningful acoustic absorption; MOOSMOOS’s dedicated acoustic systems cite sound absorption of up to 60%, measured according to DIN EN ISO 354.[4]

There is also a wider human dimension.
Research around biophilic design increasingly connects access to natural elements with wellbeing, concentration, creativity and restorative environments. MOOSMOOS itself makes an important distinction here: a moss wall cannot replace daylight, fresh air or a genuinely well-designed building. Instead, it can become one element within a much broader biophilic strategy.[5]
That distinction is important to me.
Wellness should never become a collection of marketing features.
It needs to be considered as part of the architecture itself.
When nature and technology meet
MOOSMOOS is also moving beyond passive biophilic elements.
Its HeavensBreeze system combines a handcrafted preserved-moss surface with active air-purification, humidification, sensor technology and app-based control. This is particularly interesting to me because it demonstrates where the built environment is heading: natural materials and technology do not have to compete with each other. They can work together.[6]
The same thinking extends outside the building.
With Greenovation, MOOSMOOS has developed a maintenance-free moss façade system designed to contribute to rainwater retention, noise reduction and the local microclimate without irrigation infrastructure. The system received the German Design Award 2024 in the Excellent Architecture – Eco Design category.[7]
For me, these developments make the company much more interesting than a supplier of decorative green walls.
They position nature as a material, a functional component and a design language.

And yes — it is also beautiful
Performance matters. But we should not underestimate emotional impact.
MOOSMOOS installations can become extraordinary architectural focal points: sculptural moss walls, botanical compositions, ceilings, suspended gardens, acoustic installations and bespoke artworks that give an interior an identity of its own.
In luxury real estate especially, that distinction matters.
The objective is no longer simply to fill an expensive property with expensive materials. The most memorable spaces are those where materials create an atmosphere, a sensory response and a sense of place.

Natural texture, irregularity and craftsmanship can achieve something that perfectly manufactured surfaces often cannot.
They make a space feel human.
What I want to achieve with this partnership
My objective as a MOOSMOOS Ambassador is therefore very clear.
I want to introduce these solutions to a wider network of architects, interior designers, developers, contractors, hospitality operators and wellness professionals — initially through my markets and relationships in Mallorca and internationally.
But more importantly, I want to encourage a shift in when products like these enter the conversation.
Too often, greenery is considered towards the end of a project as decoration.
I believe it should be discussed much earlier.
When natural and biophilic elements are considered during the planning phase, they can become part of the architecture: integrated with lighting, acoustics, circulation, materials and the overall experience of a space rather than simply being added to an empty wall at the end.
My ambition is to help make solutions like MOOSMOOS part of the standard material and product vocabulary of premium and wellness-focused real estate.
Not in every project.
Not on every wall.
But wherever they can genuinely improve the space.

A partnership that makes sense
The partnerships I want to build around my advisory work have to have a reason beyond commercial representation.
I am interested in businesses that combine quality, innovation, craftsmanship and a clear relevance to the future of the built environment.
MOOSMOOS fits naturally into that philosophy.
A traditional family company that found a niche, developed its own technology and transformed a natural material into something architects and designers can work with at scale.
A product that can be both functional and artistic.
And a company that shares one of the ideas I strongly believe in:
“The spaces we create should not only look better. They should help us live better.”
That is why I am proud to become a MOOSMOOS Ambassador — and very much looking forward to what we can build together.
